Born on the Viejas Reservation, Grandma Virginia is a life-long cultural practitioner of Kumeyaay traditions and fluent master speaker of the Kumeyaay language. Virginia lives on the Viejas Rez with her husband Dr. Ron Christman, a Master Bird Singer from the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel. Instructed by her mom, aunt, and family elders, Virginia was trained to served in many key roles within her community. Virginia is a highly regarded Prayer Leader, Cultural Educator and past Political leader. Virginia served her people as Vice Chairwoman, and more than 16 years as Councilwoman of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay.
